In the recent years the rise of DLC became a major focus of AAA-titles to generate additional revenue. Life is Strange developer Dontnod Entertainment announced that for their upcoming title Vampyr they are planning to break with this trend.
Back to the roots
In a world full of dull games that need DLCs to make it feel all colorful and complete, one game will stand out of the crowd and go back to the whole-game-in-one concept – Vampyr. News are, the team behind it aren’t planning to add DLCs, but instead will make a sequel if the game is a success.
“This is a purely solo experience; we did not plan DLC. We would prefer, if the reception of the game justifies it, to think about a sequel.” -Lagarrigue
Reason for this decision might be the fact that Vampyr is created on a medium budget, which ranges about in between of a triple A title and indie games. The game was originally set to be release this month but was rescheduled for early 2018.
