The_Forest_Patch 0.57_update

The developers at Endnight Games have a new patch ready! In Patch 0.57, they have made several well thought out adjustments to their survival horror title, The Forest. Among these improvements are more polished A.I. enemies, a customisable user interface, new audio features and new particle effects.

Improved U.I. Interface & Enemy A.I.

Changes have been made to the game’s user interface. In patch 0.57 players can now customise the colour of their home base icons. This should provide an easier time with differentiating your buildings from one another. In addition to this, improvements have been made to fires, gardens and item holders. Players can now cycle through these using the R button and see the next batch of items to follow. This change also bring new pickup icons for the majority of the game’s items.

Another feature included in Patch 0.57 is improved A.I. enemies. Changes have been made to the behaviour of enemies when near player buildings. Now enemies will notice you through windows, so it’s probably a good idea to construct some kind of window barrier. Also, if they spot you trying to make your way into a building for shelter, they will do their best to knock down the door and get you.

New Particle Effects & Audio Features

There are several new particle effects included in Patch 0.57. Now when you are chopping for wood, the logs will look similar in size and appearance to the tree it derives from. There are new particles added for cave waterfalls and the underwater environment as well. In addition to these things, the developers have made improvements to several of the features from Patch 0.56. There is even a new particle effect for hitting plants in snowy areas.

Endnight Games have also implemented some new audio effects for Patch 0.57. The missing crow sounds have been added in and a new skin animal sound along with this. Finally the audio for the different parts of the game’s world has been balanced out, leading to smoother sound transitions and developments.   • If enemies lose sight of a player going into a structure, they will now more often attempt to break down the walls blocking the way

  • Fires, Drying rack, Armor mannequin, Skin rack, food holders, weapon rack, explosive holder, stick, rock and log holders, arrow and bone baskets, and gardens all have a  new UI
  • Players and enemies can no longer run up the sides of cannibal huts

  • Fixed arrows sometimes going underneath terrain if shot directly downwards

  • Fixed enemy bodies not falling down if floor was destroyed/removed
  • Fixed player getting thrown up in air if standing over a rock supply cache when it explodes

  • Blood now accumulates on all player clothing variations
  • Fixed dropped logs not colliding with log sleds
  • It is no longer possible to duplicate items by spamming take/add weapon on rack
  • Player can no longer take damage while at max cold armor and will even defrost if equipping full cold armor while already frozen
  • Fixed enemies sometimes snapping to new position if falling down dead very close to a wall
  • Fixed trees sometimes spinning around wildly when blown up with explosives

  • Optimized animal and enemy traps to only spawn in nearby caught animals and enemies instead of loading in all of them to improve memory use in large saves
