Remember when we said Outlast 2 wouldn’t be released in Australia, well it seems things have changed. It looks like Australian gamers will be getting their hands on the spooky sequel after all.
No Longer Banned From Sale
Recently the Australian Classification Board banned the explicit horror title, Outlast 2, from sale in their country for in-game scenes of “implied sexual violence”. The board deemed the scenes of sexual abuse too much for even an R18+ rating.
However, a week has passed and the board has decided to amend their initial ruling. Outlast 2 will be sold under the R18+ rating and will be listed as having high impact themes of sex and violence.
The title’s developer, Red Barrels Studio, issued a statement confirming that the game was not altered in any way to appease the Australian Classification Board and will be released very soon.
“Outlast 2 has been rated R18+ by the Classification Branch in Australia and will be released 26th April 2017. There will be only one version of Outlast 2 available worldwide.” – Red Barrels Studio
We are glad that Australia are allowing the release and sales of this chilling horror sequel. From what we have seen so far, Outlast 2 looks like it’s ready to terrify and torture your soul with challenging yet gratifying gameplay. The game definitely does deserve a mature rating, however it seems unfair and a little ridiculous to outright ban the title. What do you think?
For the rest of the world, Outlast 2 will be available on the 25th of April for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
