How to find straw: Straw is not directly found in Medieval Dynasty. You have to look for reeds and then harvest them, this will give you straw.

Where to find a lot of straw in Medieval Dynasty

Reeds grow near the shore all year round and yield about 1-2 straw per harvest. Directly north of the initial town of Gostovia, you will find plenty of reeds on the shore to build your first simple little house.

This is how you farm straw: Another method to get enough straw later in the game is the direct cultivation and harvesting of:

  • Flax
  • Oats
  • Rye
  • Wheat

If you thresh the harvest in the barn, you also produce straw as a by-product by making Flax Stalks, Oat Grains, Rye Grains and Wheat Grains. However, this process is only worthwhile in bulk, as the fields can only be harvested once a year. So you’d better grow a few more fields.

You need Straw to do this: In Medieval Dynasty, Straw is mainly used to build thatched roofs on your buildings. You need it for the following objects:

  • Residential Houses
  • Woodshed
  • Dig Shed
  • Resource Warehouse
  • Food Warehouse
  • Barn
  • Chicken Coop
  • Geese House
  • Pigsty
  • Stable
  • Cowshed
  • Hunting Lodge
  • Fisherman’s Hut
  • Workshop
  • Tailor
  • Tavern

So you see, straw is practically essential for survival. Ideally, build your village near a reed site so that you always have enough straw to ultimately expand your village.
