DayZ playable via backward compatibility on Series X / S & PS 5
share their idea of a playable DayZ version for the upcoming next-gen consoles.
Many gamers are looking forward to the release of the new Xbox Series X / S and PlayStation 5 with excitement and anticipation. However, some DayZ players are concerned about their software. But don’t worry, DayZ and the addon DayZ Livonia are fully playable on both new devices, including Series S, thanks to backward compatibility.
That means you don’t have to pay a second time in order to play on the new hardware. More on that later. Owners of the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X / S can also purchase DayZ directly from the new shops. The price remains the same for both versions.
It’s that easy to get to DayZ: If you have a digital license, you can download the game directly from your PlayStation Network or Xbox Live account. You can access the game from the Ready to Install section of your Xbox Series X / S and the Library section on PlayStation 5. Since the savegame is completely server-side, you can pick up exactly where you left off.
Does graphics & performance improve? No, at the time of DayZ’s release for next-gen Xbox Series X / S and PlayStation 5 consoles, there will be no technical improvements.
However, the development team would like to monitor the performance and stability. Only if it runs more than well they will be evaluating whether the optics or the frame rate of the game on the consoles can be tuned up further.
