Two days before the release of Cyberpunk 2077, numerous tests went online worldwide. The ratings suggest a very successful sci-fi role-playing game – but there are also critical voices.
Although Night City can keep the average gamer busy for up to 100 hours, the gaming press is already painting a clear picture of Cyberpunk 2077. Below we have compiled relevant test ratings from many countries for you.
The most important things in a nutshell:
- Cyberpunk 2077 will be released on December 10th, 2020, for Windows, PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One / Series X | S, Google Stadia, and GeForce Now.
- CD Projekt Red provided the press with copies of the game at an early stage, so that the tests of the most popular gaming magazines are already online.
- The review aggregator website Metacritic has calculated an average rating of 91% for Cyberpunk 2077. The fears of the skeptics thus seem unfounded.

Excerpt from the press
Der Spiegel – “But live here forever? No thanks.”
As usual with the German news magazine “Der Spiegel”, the test waives a rating. They are fascinated by the interesting characters, the abundance of well-written stories, and the future technologies; Special mention is made of the Brain Dance, a game mechanic to recreate past events. Criticized include Technological errors, the recurring misogynous clichés, and the frequent use of swear words.
Golem – “Better than GTA V or The Witcher? This question does not arise “
The German IT magazine Golem also traditionally omits the rating – and finds that Cyberpunk 2077 is an all-around great game. No other role-playing game has such a consistently high quality, writes the editorial team. They are only a little annoyed by searching the area for equipment.
PC Gamer – “Screaming Bugs Non-stop”
One of the lowest ratings so far comes from the magazine PC Gamer: 78/100. The look, the atmosphere, and the amazing, open game world are positively emphasized here. On the other hand, there are heaps of complaints about bugs, as well as the lack of tactical decisions in combat. Furthermore, there is practically no reason to distribute the skill points carefully.
The current ratings were all created with versions of the game that lack the typical Day-one-patch. So we can assume that various bugs and problems have been fixed by the December 10th release.
