Just a few weeks ago at the E3, more news arrived about the Chaosium and Lovecraftian inspired horror adventure game Call of Cthulhu. Well, more news is getting shared as this time Cyanide studios announced the release date and showed some new screenshots.
Welcome to Darkwater Island
It’s the year 1924 when Pierce, a private investigator is sent to unravel the mystery behind the death of the Hawkins family. To do so, he will need to travel to the isolated island called Darkwater. Yet, the island doesn’t only hide a murderer it’s also full of strange creatures, cults, and whispers that emerge from the shadows.
The gameplay is heavily focused on investigating and there are different ways of revealing the secrets and hidden passages. As an example, you can talk to the inhabitants or simply look around on your own. However, Pierce isn’t exactly a fighter and will need to avoid all kinds of combat.
The trailer shown at the E3 is all about one of the most important parts of the game: sanity. During the whole story, Pierce sanity will be tested, however, his mind is already fragile due to his past and the alcoholism. The moment the sanity of Pierce shifts, he will see the world around him differently. As player, it’s your duty to protect him, yet sometimes you will need to cross the line, to get the truth.
Call of Cthulhu will release in just three months on October 30th. While the game is priced at 45 euro, a 10% discount is added on Steam when bought before the release date. In addition, the game is also available on the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox.
